Checking
A checking account is all about money in and money out. It needs to be efficient, accessible and easy to manage. We have two styles of personal checking accounts from which to choose. You can open either one with a minimum deposit of $50. Additional disclosures will be provided at account opening.
First-Class Checking
First-Class Checking offers all of the services you need for one monthly fee. Features included in this account at no additional cost:
- Standard ATM/Check Card
- Two boxes standard checks annually
- Temporary checks as needed
- Pay bills using internet banking services
- Printed statements with check images
- Money orders
- Cashiers’ checks
If you keep $4,000 or more in the account, it earns interest. Tiered rates are applied to larger balances. If your banking relationship with us totals $15,000 across all of your deposit accounts at Kirkpatrick Bank, then you pay no monthly fee.
Basic Checking
Basic Checking is designed for those whose needs are simpler. There is no monthly fee, instead fees are tied specifically to the services you need as you need them. The account does not pay interest, but pairs nicely with other options, like a savings or money market account, which do. Transfers, automatic or manual, can be established to meet your needs in managing these accounts. Check card issue fees for standard cards, as well as monthly check card fees are waived for minors (under 18).

StudentCard Checking
We offer StudentCard Checking without monthly maintenance fees and we waive the usual monthly check card fee. The best way for children to learn how to be money smart is to practice. An allowance can be one of the best ways to practice and learn. A StudentCard Checking Account gives parents extra tools to help an allowance become the first step in building a child’s money smart IQ. Additional disclosures will be provided upon account opening. Here’s how it works:
- The parent co-owns the account with the child. That means the parent can see the detail of activity in the account – where and when the money was spent, how much was spent and how much is left. Parents can use this and the account monthly statement to discuss basic money management choices and build financial literacy skills, including operating a bank account.
- The child is issued a check card. This is NOT a credit card. It works like a check, but has fraud protection and if the card is lost or stolen, can be replaced, unlike cash. Daily spending limits can be set to help children learn how to pace their spending. Balance alerts and other messages can be set to advise parents of activities or low balances on the account. In addition, if the account does not have enough money for the purchase or withdrawal requested, it will be declined, a protection against over drawing the account.
- The parent can control allowance income to the account by making either manual or scheduled transfers from their account to the child’s account. Transfers can be made online or by using the Connection Line. This feature is a great safety net if a child should be away from home and need emergency cash.
SchoolCards are custom designed check cards with the Deer Creek, Edmond North, Edmond Memorial Edmond and Santa Fe high school logos. These cards help raise money for the schools. StudentCards are available with any Kirkpatrick Bank checking account.
