Kirkpatrick Bank warns about fraudulent request for information - April, 2007

Kirkpatrick Bank has received complaints from consumers who have received an e-mail that appears to have been sent by Kirkpatrick Bank.  The fraudulent e-mail says your account has security problems and you are required to validate your account identity, and that failure to do so will result in your account being suspended.

The “sign in to account” button within the e-mail will send the customer to a fraudulent website which is designed to look like the login page from Kirkpatrick Bank’s online banking website.  Once you get to the fraudulent web site it will ask you to put in your user id and password.

This fraudulent e-mail, which may contain a virus, was not sent by  Kirkpatrick Bank. Consumers are warned NOT to access the link or submit personal information. Further, Kirkpatrick Bank strongly recommends that individuals safeguard personal information and refrain from responding to any unsolicited request for personal information.

You Can Fight Identity Theft

You should never reveal account information over the phone or in an e-mail unless it's a transaction you have initiated.

No one from Kirkpatrick Bank will ever call you and ask you to verify your account numbers.  No one from Kirkpatrick Bank will ever send you an e-mail and ask you to verify your account numbers by clicking on a link and filling in a form.   We already know your account numbers, We gave them to you.

Don’t be fooled.  These are scams and the intent is to obtain sensitive personal information from you and to use this information to commit fraud.

Report these scams immediately to the bank by calling 405-341-8222.   For more information on protecting your financial information, please visit our “Identity Theft” web page by clicking here.
